Dyeing yarn

This is some yarn I dyed at university. I thought the way the dye has stained the newsprint and I love the way the yarn looks. I based the colours on a project I did on the countryside. As I matched the colours to photographs I had taken, I  added the dye stick to the dye solution everytime I added a different colour to make sure the colour was acuurate. I also keep a dyeing journal noting what different colours are in each dye solution should I want to dye another batch of yarn. I love the bright splashes of colour and stains from when I've spilt dye on the book and even thought the latex gloves I used to protect my hands looked really nice.

 

 

 

Hello

I've been at university practilly all day and was up till 4.30 am this morning and am still sat here now as my laptop at home wouldn't upload the changes I wanted to make to the blog, so am still sat

here now at 5.15 and am dying to get home. Am just uploading some images of some colour studies work I did for a project at university. We are doing the project on the preservation of nature, and so we have looked at freezing.  I splashed paint on the paper and then placed clingfilm over the top and put in the freezer, so created an interesting texture.

Another item given the 'luxury' touch, resulting in dubious value-enhancement. (Yes, this is my third 'solid gold' drawing. I think some ideas are worth exploring through various applications, even if I end up beating a dead horse). Ink and watercolour on paper, 5x7 inches.
